Dismas Ministry respects your privacy and does not collect or store any personal information through this website without your knowledge or consent.
Our ministry’s privacy policy discloses the privacy practices for dismasministry.org. This privacy policy applies only to information collected by this web site. It will notify you of the following:
- Personally identifiable information that is collected from you through our website, how it is used and with whom it may be shared.
- Choices available to you about the use of your data.
- Security procedures in place to protect misuse of your information.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Dismas Ministry is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We only have access to and collect information that you voluntarily give us by email, filling out a web form, completing an online purchase, subscribing to and commenting on our blog.
Comments. When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Contact forms. We collect basic user information for the purpose of customer service and for communication between the user and Dismas Ministry.
Cookies. If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Evaluations and Surveys. From time-to-time our site may request information through evaluations or surveys. Participation in these evaluations or surveys is completely voluntary and you may choose whether or not to participate and therefore disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and address), and demographic information (such as zip code). Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of our services.
Online donations and purchases. We collect secure contact information and credit card data from online transactions for both donations and for store front purchases. If we have trouble processing a request, this information will be used to contact you. Any financial information, like credit card number, expiration date needed to complete the transaction will be processed through Stripe, PayPal or our secure credit card processor. This information is used only for processing and receipt purposes and to fill your requests. All credit card information is entered through a secure hosted checkout page and processed via a secure online gateway.
While you visit our site, we’ll track:
- Products you’ve viewed: we’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed
- Location, IP address and browser type: we’ll use this for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping
- Shipping address: we’ll ask you to enter this so we can, for instance, estimate shipping before you place an order, and send you the order!
We’ll also use cookies to keep track of cart contents while you’re browsing our site.
When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and optional account information like username and password. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:
- Send you information about your account and order
- Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
- Process payments and prevent fraud
- Set up your account for our store
- Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
- Improve our store offerings

If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email and phone number, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.
We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for 3 years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address and billing and shipping addresses. This information is also stored securely on Stripe, our third party online payment processor.
We will also store comments or reviews, if you choose to leave them.
Analytics. We use cookies to compile aggregate data about website traffic and website interaction so that we can offer better website experiences and tools in the future. We may contract with third-party service providers to assist us in better understanding our website visitors. These service providers are not permitted to use the information collected on our behalf except to help us conduct and improve our business. Services include Google Analytics.
How we protect your data
We have precautions in place to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information through the website, your information is protected both online and offline.
While encryption is used to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment. Credit card information is not stored on our website or office servers.
How we use your data
We will not sell or rent this information to any other persons or organizations.We will not share your information with any third party beyond our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request, e.g. to ship an order. We may contact you via email, unless you ask us not to, to inform you about events, news or services, or changes in this privacy policy.
Access to and Control Over Your Information
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do the following by contacting us by the email address or phone number given on our website, or you can choose to opt-out of our newsletters by subscribing at the bottom of our emails
What we share with others
Dismas Ministry partners with another party to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
Who on our team has access
Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. For example, both Administrators and Shop Managers can access:
- Order information like what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent, and
- Customer information like your name, email address, and billing and shipping information.
Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill orders, process refunds and support you.
