Thank You for Joining Us!
We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended Expressions of the Soul and helped make it such a meaningful and memorable afternoon. Your presence brought warmth, community, and encouragement to this important celebration of art, resilience, and hope.
The artwork showcased here stands as a testament to the enduring human spirit — and your support reminds our brothers and sisters behind bars that they are seen, heard, and valued. Thank you for being part of this powerful day of connection and compassion.
We invite you to scroll through some of our favorite moments from the day below. Let the art speak to you — and remind you that transformation, beauty, and grace are alive in every human story.
On a beautiful spring afternoon, Expressions of the Soul came to life — and what a life-giving day it was! Hosted by Dismas Ministry and the Ignatian Volunteer Corps of Milwaukee, the event opened a sacred space where art bridged the gap between walls, hearts, and experiences.
We are thrilled to share a few glimpses of this unforgettable day through photos below.
From the moment the doors opened, the room was filled with energy, conversation, and connection. Guests were invited to step into the world of our brothers and sisters who are incarcerated or formerly incarcerated, experiencing their creativity and resilience through powerful works of art. Every painting, poem, and sculpture reflected deeply personal journeys — expressions of freedom, confinement, hope, healing, and the profound dignity of the human spirit.
Highlights of the Day Included:
A breathtaking gallery showcasing artwork created by individuals who are currently or formerly incarcerated.
A special exhibit of I Am Beautiful: Volume 10, featuring art, poems, and stories by and for women in prison.
Time for reflection, conversation, and community-building, as attendees explored how art and ministry can come together to foster hope and transformation.
Opportunities to support the mission by purchasing prints and greeting cards created from the artwork, with proceeds going toward expanding outreach to those behind bars.
Throughout the afternoon, there was a palpable sense of reverence and respect for the artists and their work. The exhibit was not just a display of talent — it was a testimony to the enduring truth that every person carries within them a spark of divine beauty, no matter their past or circumstance.
Many attendees shared how moved they were by the depth of emotion and hope captured in the pieces. One visitor commented, “It felt like the artists were speaking directly to my heart. You could feel their courage in every brushstroke and every word.”
We are profoundly grateful to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated, and helped make this event such a success. Your presence and support affirm our shared belief: every person deserves to be seen, heard, and loved.
Thank you for being part of this beautiful experience.
If you missed the event or would like to continue supporting this work, limited edition prints and sets of greeting cards are still available for purchase through our online store. Every purchase helps us continue to bring hope and faith to those behind bars.
