The materials listed below are distributed without cost by Dismas Ministry to Catholic inmates who request them, as well as to the prison chaplains in areas currently designated for service. These areas are chosen by Dismas Ministry based on the ministry’s annual budget. All items listed below are available in English and Spanish.
If an inmate would like to receive any of our materials, they must write to us directly to request a materials brochure. Once we receive their request we will mail them a materials brochure with an authorization form to be completed by the facility. Once we receive the completed brochure we then send the requested items.

Catholic Bibles
Distribution of free Catholic Bibles in English and Spanish places the Word of God in the hands of inmates for regular, daily reading. Versions include the deuterocanonical books: New American Catholic Bible
Prayer Book
A pocket-size prayer book (glued-no staples) designed to foster the prayer life of Catholic inmates. Includes all the common Catholic prayers, lives of saints who have been in prison, and prayers and illustrations contributed by inmates.
Prayer Cards
A set of five (5) high-quality 3.5″ x5″ prayer cards printed on heavy card stock. The beautiful and unique artwork on the cover of these cards was created by prisoners served by Dismas Ministry.
Rosary
Our cord rosaries are great way to pray the rosary daily. Each rosary is crafted using a molded plastic crucifix, centerpiece and beads on durable nylon cord. They are designed to easily break apart when tugged, which makes them perfect for prison ministry.

Important Update on Mailings to ICE Detention Facilities
Due to the high volume of returned mail and the frequent movement of individuals within ICE Detention Facilities, Dismas Ministry is no longer able to send individual mailings directly to incarcerated persons at these locations. While we would love to continue serving individuals in ICE facilities on a one-to-one basis, the cost of undeliverable mail has made this unsustainable for our ministry.
At this time, we are only able to fulfill individual requests from those who have returned our Materials Brochure and have been verified through our system.
We remain committed to supporting those in ICE Detention through bulk mailings to chaplains and prison ministers, provided a valid mailing address is on file.
