Request Process for Prisoners
If a prisoner would like to receive any of our materials at no cost, they must write to us directly to request a materials brochure. Once we receive their request, we will mail them a materials brochure with an authorization form to be completed by the facility. Once we receive the completed brochure and authorization form, we then send the requested items at no charge. Go to our Inmate Services page to learn more.
Our ordering process for prisoners is dictated by the jail, prison and detention system. We have to follow their guidelines to insure safe delivery of resources.
Request Process for Free Materials
We are an organization that is run completely by donations, therefore we ask that if your organization or group has a budget for these needed materials and can help support our mission, please order through our website store and pay for your items.
If you are a prison minister, chaplain, or volunteer and requesting FREE materials for a facility, you must complete our registration form prior to placing each request. Once you complete this form you will be redirected to a page with your coupon code, which you can then use in our online store to place your free request.
Here’s how the required process works:
- Complete the Registration Form on our website and click submit.
- Once you click submit, you will be directed to a coupon code.
- Visit our online store. Choose your items and quantities, making sure to select the correct language and quantities allowed.
- Apply your coupon code at checkout. On the cart page, enter your coupon code in the coupon code box.
- Enter all the required shipping information and place your order.

How to Use Dismas Ministry Correspondence Courses
Options for Chaplains, Prison Ministers, and Individuals Who Are Incarcerated
At Dismas Ministry, we offer free Catholic faith-based resources to support spiritual growth behind bars. Our materials can be used in two distinct ways: through our Correspondence Course for individuals who are incarcerated, or through Chaplain-Led Study Groups within correctional facilities.
Option 1:
Incarcerated Individuals (Correspondence Course)
Our Correspondence Course provides a sructured, one-on-one study experience for individuals who are incarcerated.
Enrollment Process:
- The individual writes to us directly, requesting a materials brochure.
- We mail the brochure and an authorization form that must be signed by facility staff.
- Once we receive the completed form, enrollment begins.
Course Details:
We offer studies in:
- Bible Study (3 parts)
- Faith Study (3 parts)
- Prayer Study (3 parts)
- Social Justice Study (1 booklet containing all 3 parts)
Participants begin with Part One of their chosen study.
How it Works:
- Each part includes a Review Test.
- Test must be returned by mail to:

Our trained volunteer reviewers:
- Evaluate the test
- Provide personalized feedback
- Return the corrected test
- Send the next part of the study
After completing all three parts, participants receive a Certificate of Completion signed by the reviewer and Dismas Ministry.
Option 2:
Chaplains & Prison Ministers (Self-Directed Study Groups)
Chaplains and prison ministers may request full sets of materials to facilitate independent Study programs within their facilities.
What We Provide:
- All three parts of each study (or just one part) sent at once
- Review test answer keys, delivered via email
- Blank completion certificates, available upon request
Important Notes:
Chaplains / Ministers are responsible for:
- Distributing materials
- Managing and and reviewing tests
- Awarding certificates if desired
Dismas Ministry does not review test or issue certificates for chaplain-led group studies. These materials are intended for internal program use within the facility.
